This story with an illustration is sent by a budding writer and artist, Lisa D'Cruz, 8, India.
Ten-year-old Scarlet was walking in the
night when her cat purred. She lost her balance and fell down on the ground.
While lying down, Scarlet saw chocolate
wrappers fallen on the soft mud. Scarlet started following them. It was a long way.
Then she saw a chocolate factory and
rushed towards it. When Scarlet went inside, she saw boxes of sweets. Her cat
started licking the sweets.
But when Scarlet tasted a sweet, she immediately
threw it out of her mouth because, although it looked very attractive, it was sour instead of sweet.
She saw a door with a hole and peeped
through it.
Scarlet saw many people making sweets.
She asked them,
“Why are you making sour sweets? Don’t you know that children will hate them?”
“Exactly! That is what we want!”said an old man.
“But why?”Scarlet asked.
“Because children love sweets and a lot of sugar makes them weak. So we are going to sell these ‘medicine sweets’ so that when children eat them they will become healthy.”
“That’s a good idea!” Scarlet thought.
Suddenly someone splashed water on her
face. It was her mother. She was dreaming. That night she told everyone her
dream.
