On a nice bright day, a
nice young rabbit with nice pointed ears, was taking a nice little walk in the
jungle.
Suddenly, the wind blew
through the trees.
WhooooO, WhooooO, WhooooO!
The rabbit was scared. He
hopped away and hid in a cave.
Just then, his pointed ears
heard a loud sound...
THUDDDD!
The poor rabbit jumped up
and ran for his life.
While running, he yelled,
“Run, run, keep running,
The sky - it is falling!”
A giraffe saw him, and asked,
“Why are you running?”
The rabbit replied,
“Didn’t you hear the big THUDDing?
The sky – it is falling!”
The giraffe, too, took to his
heels, and ran with the rabbit.
They met a bear, who
asked,
“Hey, why are you running?”
The rabbit and the deer
replied together:
“Didn’t you hear the big THUDDing?
The sky – it is falling!”
The bear also joined them
and started running.
Soon, the deer, the fox,
the jackal, and other animals were running for their lives.
The sound of their feet
woke up the lion, the king of the jungle.
He came out of his den to
see what the hullabaloo was all about.
When he saw the running
animals, he roared,
“What happened? Why are you running?”
The animals replied:
“Didn’t you hear the big THUDDing?
The sky – it is falling!”
The lion yawned and asked,
“How do you know the sky is falling?”
The shivering, scared, poor
little rabbit came forward.
He stammered,
“I..I ...saw a piece of the sky falling. It fell with down with a big THUDD.”
The lion looked at the
shivering rabbit and commanded,
“Take me to the place where it happened.”
The rabbit led the lion to
the cave. All the other animals followed them.
The lion found a big
coconut that had fallen from a tree near the cave.
He picked it up and said,
“See, this is your piece of the sky!”
The rabbit and the other
animals bowed down their heads in shame.
